Episode 2: Dr Larry Richard on The Lawyer Personality

In Episode 2 of The Thinking Legal Podcast, we speak to Dr Larry Richard, an expert in the personality of lawyers and founder of LawyerBrain LLC.

Larry grew up in a family of lawyers. He continued in his family’s footsteps, with various roles as a litigator and corporate lawyer, before realising the law wasn’t for him. Instead, he decided to take up a career in psychology. Like many who study psychology, he decided to focus on what he knew but didn’t yet understand - in his case, lawyers.

It turns out that law, through its demands and training, selects for seven facets for personality that differ dramatically from the general population. Larry takes us through what these traits are and how they impact on lawyers in leadership.
